About Me
Education
I am a graduate of Fordham University, with a degree (B.A.) in Communication and Media Studies with a concentration in Television/Radio and a minor in English. I have taken courses in Digital Video Production, Digital Photography, Graphic Design, Media Industries, Film, Television, and other subjects.
Experience
For the past two years, I have worked at WFUV Public Radio as a videographer, editor, and photographer. In that time, I have assisted with videography on over 200 artists' sessions. The majority of these sessions take place in WFUV's own Studio A, where, before the session begins, the video team is responsible for setting up lighting, choosing camera angles, and setting up other equipment. While audio is recorded for radio broadcast, we record the performances, usually in only one take. The two to five angles from each performance are then put together to edit each song in Final Cut Pro X, adding titles, graphics, and color corrections before being uploaded to WFUV's YouTube page, which has over 32,000 subscribers and receives over one million views each month. Other sessions take place at various venues around New York City, such as Rockwood Music Hall, City Winery, Hill Country BBQ, and Electric Lady Studios, where we record concerts hosted by WFUV, which are later edited and posted on the YouTube page. Some of these sessions have been featured on the websites of NPR, NPR Music, and The New York Times, as well as shared by the bands involved.
I have also worked as a videographer with WFUV at several music festivals, including the Clearwater Festival and the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, where we recorded sets from the Public Radio Day Stage, as well as exclusive, intimate performances from Hotel San Jose.
I have served as a photographer for many of WFUV's in-studio sessions. These include visits from The Kooks, The Head and the Heart, Gary Clark Jr., Jenny Lewis, Peter Asher, Denny Laine, and many others. Additionally, I have served as photographer at offsite events, including the Celebrate Brooklyn! performances by St. Vincent and Jack Johnson.
I have also used my skills as a videographer, photographer, and video editor in freelance work. I have recorded and edited speeches of speakers for Fordham's Fordham Social Innovators Collaboratory (through the Gabelli School of Business), as well as stand-up comedy specials and Q&As.
Why?
I have a geniune interest in and love for visual content, including both photography and videography. From the time I was young, I have loved playing around with cameras, and, as I've gotten older, my interest has only grown. I am dedicated to seeing a project through from its initial setup to its final editing "touches." My dedication, determination, and ambition have driven me to find opportunities where I can hone my skills and learn more about these fields.
Shooting live performances (both for video and photos) has forced me to learn to "think on my toes" and become more adaptable, two skills that I have found to be very useful in creating content, for even in more controlled environments, I am able to utilize these skills to produce an improved end product.
